Exodus 30:22

“There were several anointed ones of the Lord in the Old Covenant, pre-eminently King David.” — Catechism footnote: Cf. Ex 30:22-32; 1 Sam 16:13.

“He received not the High-Priesthood from bodily succession, nor was He anointed with oil prepared by man, but before all ages by the Father; and He so far excels the others as with an oath He is made Priest: For they are priests without an oath, but He with an oath by Him that said, The Lord sware, and will not repent.” — editor's note: σκευαστῷ, Ex. xxx. 22–25: “a perfume compounded (μυρεψικόν ) after the art of the perfumer” (R.V.).
