- Galatians 1:19
Paul calls James 'the Lord's brother.' Pitre uses the title for two steps (pp 106, 110–111): Bauckham's point that this James needed no other name, so 'Mary the mother of James' (Luke 24:10) is the other Mary; and Hegesippus's report that James and his successor Simon, both 'brothers,' were the first bishops of Jerusalem and were known to be the Lord's cousins, sons of Clopas, Joseph's brother.
