Jeremiah 27:8 (WEB)

“‘“‘It will happen that I will punish the nation and the kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon,’ says the LORD, ‘with the sword, with famine, and with pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.

Fathers and councils · 1

  • “For Jeremiah said:—Every people and kingdom that shall not put his neck into the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar, King of Kings, My servant, with famine and with sword and with pestilence will I visit that people.” — editor's note: Jer. xxvii. 8. The Hebrew has “King of Babylon,” and so the Peshitto. But Nebuchadnezzar is addressed as “King of Kings,” Daniel ii. 37.
