Who
Abraham’s brother, a son of Terah, named after his grandfather Nahor (Genesis 11:26). He married Milcah, the daughter of his brother Haran, and stayed in Mesopotamia when Abraham went to Canaan; his city, Haran, is called “the city of Nahor” (Genesis 24:10). Through his son Bethuel he was the grandfather of Rebekah: “Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham’s brother” (Genesis 22:23), and Laban, Rachel and Leah were of his house. Laban’s oath with Jacob calls on him: “The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us” (Genesis 31:53).
