Who

The standard commentary on the whole Latin Bible in the medieval schools: patristic excerpts written in the margins and between the lines of the biblical text. It was assembled in the early twelfth century in the circle of Anselm of Laon (with Ralph of Laon and Gilbert of Auxerre) from Augustine, Jerome, Gregory, Bede, Rabanus and others, and was long misattributed to Walafrid Strabo. Aquinas cites both the marginal ("ordinary") and the interlinear gloss on every page of the Catena Aurea.
