Who

Patriarch of Antioch from 512 to 518, deposed when Justin I restored Chalcedon, and the leading theologian of the miaphysite churches, whose 125 cathedral homilies, letters and hymns survive in Syriac. He rejected the Council of Chalcedon, but his homilies on the Mother of God honour her as Theotokos and ever-virgin in terms the whole East shared. The chain quotes him as a witness from outside the Chalcedonian communion.
