- Ezekiel 10:18
Before the Babylonians burn the temple, Ezekiel sees the glory of the LORD leave it. Pitre uses this to describe what the Second Temple lacked in Jesus' day: the Ark was gone and the glory cloud had never returned (pp 50–52; Josephus and Tacitus both report the Holy of Holies was empty). Jews were waiting for both to come back, which is the expectation Luke's Annunciation and Visitation answer.
- Ezekiel 25:15
The Philistines act 'in enmity,' taking vengeance with a spiteful heart to destroy. Pitre cites this alongside Numbers 35:21 to establish that eybah means lethal hostility — the hatred of nations at war. Read with that meaning, Genesis 3:15 declares an unrelenting war between the serpent and the Woman, which Revelation 12 shows being fought between the dragon and the mother of the Messiah.
