Key words

בֶּן־שְׁלֹשִׁים שָׁנָהben-sheloshim shanah · Hebrew
'thirty years old' — Joseph's age when he enters Pharaoh's service.

Why it matters

Joseph is thirty when he stands before Pharaoh and begins the work that will feed the world. Pitre lists this as the fourth item of his eight-point chart: Jesus is 'about thirty' when he begins his public ministry (Luke 3:23) (p 140). The vault's existing note on Joseph's exaltation had attached the age to Genesis 41:40; the number is here.
