Jeremiah 3:16

Jeremiah 3:16 (WEB)

It will come to pass, when you are multiplied and increased in the land in those days,” says the LORD, “they will no longer say, ‘the ark of the LORD’s covenant!’ It will not come to mind. They won’t remember it. They won’t miss it, nor will another be made.

As quoted in the map (KJV)

Jeremiah 3:16 (KJV)

And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.

Key words

אֲרוֹן בְּרִית־יְהוָהaron berit-YHWH · Hebrew
'the ark of the covenant of the LORD.'
וְלֹא יִפְקֹדוּvelo yifqodu · Hebrew
'neither shall they visit it' — better, 'they shall not miss it'; in the coming age the Ark will not even be looked for.

Why it matters

Jeremiah foretells a day when the Ark of the covenant will not come to mind, be remembered, or be missed, and will not be made again. Pitre closes the lost-Ark quest with this prophecy (p 64): the Ark will not be missed because the New Testament shows exactly where the true Ark is — in heaven (Revelation 11:19). Mary is the Ark no one needs to search for.
