CommentJeromePublic domainMatthew 16:13–19

Observe how by this connexion of the discourse the Apostles are not styled men but Gods. For when He had said, “Whom say ye that the Son of Man is?” He adds, “Whom say ye that I am?” as much as to say, They being men think of Me as man, ye who are Gods, whom do you think Me?

Reproduced in full. Translation: Oxford 1841 (Newman), public domain (Public domain).
