Who

Bishop of Poitiers from about 350, exiled to Phrygia by Constantius for four years and called the "Athanasius of the West"; a Doctor of the Church. On the Trinity in twelve books was the first full Latin treatment of the subject, and his Commentary on Matthew is the earliest Latin Gospel commentary to survive. In it he reads Matthew 1:25 and the "brothers of the Lord" so as to keep Mary's virginity intact, and the chain quotes him there.

See of Poitiers, c. 350–367.
