This is John’s testimony, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”

19 And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou? 29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. 35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; 43 The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.

Why it matters
John marks day one with the Baptist's testimony, then 'the next day' three times, then 'the third day' — four days plus three, a week that ends with a wedding. Pitre's table of the seven days (p 30) shows John modelling Jesus' first week on the week of creation, which likewise ends with the union of the first man and woman. Cana is the new creation's wedding, and Mary is its 'Woman.'
