Who
Bishop of Jerusalem from about 350, exiled three times in the Arian disputes, and a Doctor of the Church since 1882. His Catechetical Lectures, delivered in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to candidates for baptism, are the fullest surviving picture of fourth-century instruction: the creed article by article, then the mysteries of baptism, chrism and the Eucharist. The chain quotes the lectures on the virgin birth and on the Spirit.
