Salamanes Hermeias Sozomenos, from a Christian family near Gaza, a lawyer in Constantinople who wrote an Ecclesiastical History from 324 to 425, dedicated to Theodosius II and built largely on Socrates. He is fuller than Socrates on the monks of Egypt and Palestine and on the churches of the East. The chain uses him for the fourth-century Church that received the councils.
