Who
Bishop of Caesarea in Palestine from about 313, heir to Origen's library through his teacher Pamphilus, and the father of Church history. The Ecclesiastical History, carried down to 324, the Chronicle, the Preparation and Demonstration of the Gospel and the Life of Constantine preserve extracts from Papias, Hegesippus and many lost writers. The chain relies on him for what the second century remembered about James, the relatives of Jesus and the Jerusalem church.
