Key words
- שְׁלֹשָׁה חֳדָשִׁיםsheloshah chodashim · Hebrew
- 'three months.' The Septuagint has treis mēnas (τρεῖς μῆνας); Luke says Mary stayed with Elizabeth 'about three months' (mēnas treis, Luke 1:56).
- בָּרַךְbarakh · Hebrew
- 'blessed' — the LORD blesses the house that shelters the ark; Elizabeth calls Mary 'blessed among women' and her own house is blessed by the visit.
Why it matters
The ark remains three months in the house of Obed-edom in Judah, and the LORD blesses his whole household. Pitre's fourth parallel: Mary remains about three months in Elizabeth's house in Judah, and blessing fills it. The oddly specific 'three months' is an ark allusion, and the accumulation of four parallels is too much to be coincidence.
