Church Fatherd. 634

Who

Abbot of the monastery of Theodosius who governed the Church of Jerusalem after the Persian sack of 614, rebuilt its ruined churches, and was patriarch from 632 until his death. An Encomium on the Dormition transmitted under his name is one of the earliest homilies to teach that Mary's body was preserved from corruption and taken to her Son; its authenticity has been questioned, but it belongs to the Jerusalem tradition of the seventh century.

See of Jerusalem, 630–634.
