Who
Patriarch of Alexandria from 412 and a Doctor of the Church, who led the Council of Ephesus against Nestorius and secured the title Theotokos for Mary, because the one born of her is the Word made flesh. His homilies on Luke, the Commentary on John, On the Unity of Christ and the letters to Nestorius are the foundation of later Christology. The Catena Aurea uses his Luke homilies throughout, and the chain quotes him as the council's own voice.
