Why it matters
Elizabeth cries out with a great cry that Mary is blessed among women. Pitre's Visitation table pairs the 'loud cry' with the shouting that accompanied the Ark up to Jerusalem (pp 55–56), and in chapter 6 he quotes Ephrem, who reasoned from 'blessed among women' that the New Eve was spared the curse of Genesis 3:16 at Bethlehem (p 135).
